He was a member of a squad that planned to harm and murder Jews, set off car bombs, and kidnap Jews in order to release prisoners. On February 11, 1998, Tahan and another terrorist attacked David Katurza HYD, who was making his way to the synagogue on the Shuafat Ridge in Jerusalem, and brutally murdered him with knife stabs in the back and all over his body. He was sentenced to life imprisonment but was released in the Shalit deal. He returned to terrorism and was imprisoned.
