He was sentenced in the 1980s to prison for planting an explosive device, released in the Jibril deal in 1985. About a year later, he headed the Fatah squad that murdered Zehava Ben Ovadia HYD in East Jerusalem. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and released in the Shalit deal. In 2014, he was arrested and returned to serve his sentence because he had returned to terrorism. He has now been released again in the deal.
