On 7 Tammuz 5761 (June 28, 2001), he served as a driver in a shooting attack on the Jenin bypass road near Ganim settlement, in which Yekaterina (Katya) Weintraub HYD was murdered, while driving a car with her 4-year-old son who was not injured. Her friend, who was driving a car in front of her, was moderately injured in the attack. An IDF armored vehicle that was stationed nearby, was moved from the scene a few days before the attack due to contacts between Israel and Palestinian Authority terrorists (TENT report).
